This year i created a Christmas card on the computer for the first time. The photo from
the children is taken with my first digital camera. The background is a
photo i found somewhere on the internet.

For this Christmas card i used a scan from the children's school photo's.
The bubbles are created with version 9 of Paint Shop Pro. The rest is put

another photo and placed inside the photo from the two oldest. Again the
background came from somewhere on the internet.

For the first time i created a Christmas card out of my own photo's. The
wings and the background are taken in a butterfly paradise near Havelte. The
photo's of the youngest two children are taken on a trampoline.

This year all three children posed especially for the Christmas card. The 3D
texts are created with Magix 3Dmaker and i used a photo from December 2007
as a texture for the 2010. Everything is put together with Paint Shop Pro
X2.

It is getting easier every year. The children posed separately from behind a piece of white blockboard.
The girls and the blockboard are lit with two flashlights refelecting on a white surface and the background was
lit with a third flashlight directed to a white wall. The card the children are holding is
one of my most popular (HDR) images on Shutterstock. Everything is put together with Paint Shop Pro X2.

This year I used a series of photo's I made in 2005 and 2007. The four photo's represent another year that has past. The girls all posed seperatly with their favorite gadget or toy. Everything is put together with Paint Shop Pro X3.

I didn't want to do a lot of editing this year due to the limited time available. I managed to get a good shot of the girls behind a white board in front of a black background. Since i now own some studio strobes and softboxes the indoor photoshoots are a lot easier than before. A little editing in Paint Shop Pro X5 was enough to completly darken the background and whiten the board. For the text i used a fireworks photo made last year. Thats all.

The idea of this "Mondriaan" christmas card came from my partner. She asked her Facebook friends for blue, red and yellow fabrics to create the backgrounds. After the photoshoots we decided to convert the photo's to a single color so after all we could of have used any color background. Again everything is put together with Paint Shop Pro X5.

What to create this year ? Due to being busy at work little inspiration came to me. There was a lot of James Bond advertisment on TV because of the new movie "Spectre" and the idea rose to photograph the girls in black cocktail dresses. Browsing on Google Images we came along an old "Thunderball" flyer from 1965. My partner loved the color settings so we decided to use it, although it had little to do with the current Bond movie and the allready bought dresses. So I dropped the Bond theme and went for a more 60's look.

This is the 20th anniversary of our photo Christmas card. We didn't think all three girls wanted to pose again, but they all cooperated happily and brought in new ideas. One of them had a colourful Christmas light strain we never would use for a tree or whatsoever. This gave a nice effect draped over and between the girls while they were lying on a black vinyl background. My partner was lighting their faces a bit holding an Ikea LED bulb while I was standing on a step ladder to take the shot. Afterwards it took me some effort to get the glowing effect on the text right especially after printing it myself. Luckily it came out nicely on the prints from the local photo shop.

Since I work in a central distribution centre crates and boxes are all around. This was the inspiration to put the girls inside a box and label it as fragile. The girls are shot in front of a black background in two pictures. The wood used for the crate is an old picture of a fence in the alley behind our house. The barcode is Code39, but after leaving the leading and trailing * out of the text it is not scannable anymore.

The idea for this year came from the oldest daughter. It is a combination of the picture I took for the christmas card of 2004, the first with all three daughters, and a new picture in the same pose. This wasn't easy because they are now more or less of the same length. The background is a picture I found on the internet with few colours and the correct composition on wich the two frames fitted nicely.

The inspiration for this years christmas card came from my fair share of putting together IKEA furniture the past year. Just recently I finnished a new kitchen and a hamster cage from a Kallax bookcase. The photo's of the girls are taken on a white background lit by 2 flash lights making use of Nikon's remote flash capabilities. The ball effect is from Paint Shop Pro which I previously used on a photo of a hedgehog. The rest I kept simple with just some vector lines and texts.

The instruction sheet for this years Christmas card is partly taken of real IKEA instructions and adapted using all kinds of vector objects. I had never used vectors this way before and forced myself to have a very steep learning curve to get it done in time. It was great fun to create this.

It has been a lousy year woldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was the inspiration for this years Christmas card being called "Uitkijkend naar 2021" which means "looking forward to 2021".
The card itself is based on a HDR image I shot during our holiday in Denmark back in 2018. It is a view on the Nyrup Bugt somewhere between Klint and Nykøbing Sj. The girls, which suprisingly still wanted to coöperate, were shot at home in poses that would fit on the landing stage. The Christmas trees are taken from the internet because our own tree was already set up completely and I wanted just a plain tree with lights. Putting the girls in neat "social distance" looking towards the sun behind the clouds completed the story.

This is our 25th photo Christmas card and it is the 18th card computer edited. It also is most probably the last card featuring our daughters. Bearing this in mind I came up with this collage consisting of 19 of the past years Christmas cards.
To complete the series I took a picture of the girls before a black background. I used a simple spotlight to create a bit of backlight and a big halogen light pointed to the ceiling and wall to lighten the foreground.
The editing was done by putting each card on a separate layer so I could shuffle as much as needed until all would fit nicely. I created a bit of shadow around the cards so they would pop up a little from the white background.
The final touch was putting the stuffed raindeer, that is on all cards from 2004 to 2012, inside a bubble which I copied from the 2005 card.

Our first Christmas card without our daughters in many years. As Saskia picked up photography at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic I thought it would be nice to use a picture she took and one of mine.
Because I like to see a connection between the photos, I looked for photos with a common factor, in this case old and new or the progression of seasons.
They are both pictures of one of our hydrangeas in the front yard. One taken in winter and one in summer.
To build in a small reference to previous Christmas cards I added the reindeer stuffed animal.
